Bustling Bangkok

Today is Dave & I’s one year anniversary of being engaged! Last year on this very day we were in Vanuatu, a gorgeous South Pacific island, when he made me the happiest girl on the planet, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Today we are all the way over in Thailand continuing this incredible journey together. This past year has been full of excitement and we are thrilled that the big day is getting closer and closer. Hey, at least in 2012 we will be able to say ‘next year’ when we get asked when we will be getting married!! But really, what gypsies have time to plan a wedding when they are off gallivanting the globe anyways? As long as I have my love beside me, I have everything I will ever need.

Bangkok – Day 9 (26/12/11)

Today was entirely a travel day which started with an early wake up at 5:30 in order to make our 4x4 traverse from the beach across the mountain range to the ferry pier where we hopped a boat from Koh Phangan back to the mainland. Luckily the ladies got to sit in the cab of the truck and the men were left to bounce around and hang on for dear life in the back box with the luggage. There wasn’t a road per say, just a jarring path that the driver probably paved to get his ute to the place where he picked us up in the first place. Nonetheless, we arrived to the pier a little shaken and stirred. We were lured into buying a sub by a lovely thai lady who was able to sing the sandwich menu at 6 am as the sun was rising. It was remarkable really. But in the end we only picked a few goods off the sanny during our three hour trip and did more sleeping than snacking. Once we arrived on land we took a disco shuttle bus with couch style seating to the Surat Tahni airport, making one stop to transfer shuttle buses ...we still aren’t sure exactly why. We caught our short hour and a half flight to Bangkok and trained it straight to our hostel from the airporto. We are staying at a brand new place called Link, right in the heart of the city of life.

Bangkok – Day 10 (27/12/11)

We had a great sleep in this morning and then set out for a day of bargain shopping and bartering in bustling Bangkok! The city is buzzing with people everywhere and the shopping is something fierce. It could be a competitive sport. There are endless stalls overflowing with anything and everything you can imagine...including the world renowned ipad 3! Yep, come one come all...it’s just released in Thailand! Haha

All of us found a few awesome purchases and enjoyed another foodie tour wandering through the stalls of local cuisine. We took a couple thrilling tuk tuk rides from one shopping center to another and it was awesome sauce! After the laziness that was island life last week, we are really enjoying being out and about in the hustle and bustle once again. Tomorrow we are off to Vietnam, and are looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us there.
